Monica Lawson is a New York trained actress having received a BFA in theatre from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. After graduation, Monica focused her career on theater having performed with renowned companies such as The Classical Theater of Harlem, The Flea Theater, under Artistic Director Jim Simpson, and The Bank Street Theater.
Monica worked as a voiceover artist for brands including Home Depot and MTV, and developed a love of comedy having studied sketch at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. Taking up comedy was a great balance to her theatre experience and training. With her comedic writing skills, Monica helped co-found an improv comedy group that performed both sketch and improv in venues throughout New York City.
With her experience in theatre, voiceover, and comedy, Monica moved to Los Angeles to further pursue film and television. Within months, she booked a CBS pilot and a National Commercial for Budlight.
Now based in Los Angeles, Monica is a working actress with numerous film credits, most notably Wakefield starring Bryan Cranston and Jennifer Garner, and A Cowgirl's Story starring Bailee Madison. Monica also boasts television roles on CBS, ABC, FOX, and STARZ.
As Monica's first love, theater remains an active part of her career having continued her comedic studies at The Groundlings School under instructors Scott Beehner and Drew Droege, and having performed sketch at Second City Hollywood. Monica is also a member of the Towne Street Theater Company and has performed as a member of the Open Fist Theater Company most notably in their production of Horton Foote's Foot Notes directed by actor Scott Paulin.
Monica is now branching out as a producer as the proud owner of BOND MOTION PICTURES, a film production company with several projects in development whose projects are dedicated to promoting diverse, innovative storytelling in the entertainment industry.
